PADI Tec 45 Course Options
The PADI Tec 45 course follows on from Tec 40 and teaches you to plan and execute decompression dives to a maximum depth of 45 meters on air, plus one cylinder with up to 100% oxygen for accelerated decompression.This course also removes the Tec 40 decompression limitation of 15 minutes on bottom gas or 10 minutes accelerated deco.
By now - since your Tec 40 - you should already know your preferred technical configuration (backmount or sidemount). However, you could choose to crossover to the alternate system by enrolling in either the PADI Sidemount course or PADI Tec Basics course (for backmount). Combining one of these courses with the PADI Tec 45 course may only require one extra day and a reduced course fee. (See option links further down the page.)
PADI Tec 45 Course
In my experience, this is the best technical diving course in PADI's open-circuit suite, offering a lot to gain from relatively little extra effort.
Assuming you're not switching configurations, you'll use the same equipment setup that you adapted to at the Tec 40 level, using the same basic technical dive skills, while increasing depth and bottom time but using a higher-oxygen decompression gas to optimize run times.
The knowledge development builds directly on Tec 40, recapping basic technical diving principles before diving deeper into the planning, problem management and emergency procedures required for 45m dives. The e-learning requires a similar level of dedication to Tec 40.

safety protocols during technical diver courses, decompression
diving incurs more inherent risk than recreational diving.

Backmount & Sidemount Options
Expand your technical diving skills in a new equipment configuration with either the PADI Tec Basics (backmount) or PADI Sidemount course.
Combining either option with the PADI Tec 45 course allows you to master a new configuration in as little as one extra day. Alternatively, you can take either of these two-day courses concurrently with Tec 45 to enjoy more dives and a smoother transition to your new technical setup.
