TDI Extended Range Options
Building on Decompression Procedures and Advanced Nitrox, the TDI Extended Range course trains you to plan and execute decompression dives to a maximum depth of 55 meters on air, utilizing one cylinder of nitrox and one cylinder of 100% oxygen for accelerated decompression.
After refreshing previously learned skills, you will master advanced procedures for emergencies, including no-mask gas-sharing ascents and unconscious diver rescue.
During previous courses, you should have already mastered decompression procedures using either a twinset (backmount doubles) or sidemount.
If you wish to dive using an alternative open-circuit configuration during your Extended Range course, I recommend first taking either the Intro to Tech or TDI Sidemount course.
These courses will thoroughly prepare you for the new configuration while refreshing the core skills required for technical diving (see further down this page).
TDI Extended Range Course
This TDI course takes open-circuit decompression diving on air close to its absolute physiological limit of 56.9 meters.
Day one of this course includes a theory and pool session, with all eLearning required to be completed in advance. Three boat-diving days allow for up to 9 dives—more than the course minimum of 4—ensuring maximum skill progression and a superior decompression diving experience.
Completing this course requires a strong commitment to learning, while physically mastering the dive skills can be quite demanding. However, extending your limit to 55 meters opens up a whole new world of incredible dive sites around Phuket and is well worth the effort!

Although
you'll receive rigorous specialized training and follow strict
safety protocols during technical diver courses, decompression
diving incurs more inherent risk than recreational diving.
Therefore, securing personal dive insurance is essential before
any technical diving.
TDI AN & DP Combination
The TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures courses (or equivalents) are required before taking the Extended Range course.
